What you need to know about botulinum toxin injections for facial wrinkles

HERE IS WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT BOTULINUM TOXIN INJECTIONS FOR WRINKLES IN GENEVA

What are the properties of botulinum toxin?

The aesthetic properties of botulinum toxin, or botulinum toxin (the word botulinum toxin actually stands for a trademark), were discovered in 1980. botulinum toxin has only been available in France since 2003. Before that, botulinum toxin was exclusively used by American, Canadian or Australian practitioners.

There are different types of botulinum toxin, but the one used in medical aesthetics is botulinum toxin type A. The botulinum toxin has several other medical indications (ophthalmology, neurology, otolaryngology). In medical aesthetics, botulinum toxin is used to reduce wrinkles or excessive sweating (called hyperhidrosis).

How does botulinum toxin work?

botulinum toxin, or botulinum toxin is used in low-dose local injections. It blocks the signals from the nerves to the muscles, so the injected muscles (forehead muscles for example) can no longer contract. This causes the muscle to relax and the wrinkles to visibly reduce.

botulinum toxin or hyaluronic acid?

botulinum toxin injections are often used in addition to hyaluronic acid injections. botulinum toxin injections have a tightening effect (they relax the muscle) while hyaluronic acid injections have a wrinkle filling effect. It is often recommended to use both techniques for a complete facial treatment.
